The HKS Super Sequential Blowoff Valve (SSQV) is a dual stage pull type relief valve. Unlike other blow off valves that are push type, the SSQV will not leak under high boost conditions nor under vacuum at idle. Being of a pull type valve structure, the SSQV can not physically leak under any level of boost because boost pressure also keeps the valve closed against its seat. The SSQV is actuated by pressure alterations only, not by the rate of pressure or vacuum in the line, which ensures a quick valve response and complete closure during idle. On typical blow-off valve designs, a large valve is utilized in order to accommodate high boost / high horsepower applications. However, these large valves tend to react slowly and require high activation pressure to open, therefore are not able to activate and prevent compressor surge at light-load conditions. On the other hand, smaller, fast reacting valves do not discharge the airflow capacity required for high horsepower applications and tend to creep open and leak as the boost pressure overpowers the spring on these push type valves. For maximum performance, the HKS SSQV incorporates both a small primary valve for ultra quick activation, along with a larger secondary valve for additional discharge capacity. The SSQV is engineered to initially open the small primary valve at light throttle and load conditions, then sequentially opens the secondary valve for additional relief capacity under high boost and load conditions. The SSQV is constructed of polished billet aluminum, which ensures long-term durability and visual appeal. The mounting base utilizes a circular mounting flange that provides exception flow and complete secure mounting via a C-clip snap ring and O-ring gasket. The triple-fin discharge port design produces a powerful and unique aggressive blowoff sound along with added visual distinction.

The HKS SSQV is available as a universal unit for custom applications and also by vehicle specific kits for bolt-on applications. Vehicle specific HKS SSQV kits come complete with all needed mounting flanges, brackets, and miscellaneous hardware for a bolt-on installation. For Universal SSQV applications, weld-on flanges are available in steel and aluminum for custom installation.

The HKS SSQV silver triple-fin discharge design produces a powerful and unique aggressive blow-off sound along with added visual distinction. Additional triple-fin inserts are available in gold (standard high frequency sound) for visual appeal and in purple metallic (emits a lower frequency sound than both the standard and gold SSBV inserts) for an alternate sound and appearance. SSQV inserts are easily interchangeable within minutes.

The HKS Racing Blow Off Valve Type II is a pull-type blow off valve for high horsepower applications. Similar in construction and function to the HKS SSQV, the Racing Blow Off Valve Type II uses a large single stage, aluminum pull-type valve to handle the extreme pressure and airflow discharge volume that is associated with high boost / horsepower applications. The Type II is engineered to accommodate up to 3.0 bar (43.44psi) of boost and can function accurately on vehicles in the 800 horsepower range. The Racing Blow Off Valve Type II utilizes the same circular mounting flange and billet aluminum construction as the SSQV to provide outstanding flow and a perfect seal.

A good blow off valve is an absolute necessity for high performance turbo systems. A well-engineered blow off valve prevents turbine damage by quickly relieving excess boost pressure without sacrificing boost response. Conventional blow off valve designs require choosing between flow capacity and boost response - blow off valves with high flow capacity generally have poor boost response, while blow off valves with good boost response are not able to handle high flow capacity.
A'PEX engineers have developed a solution to this dilemma by creating the Twin Chamber Blow Off Valve.

The Twin Chamber Blow Off Valve is an adjustable, high-response unit for use on a wide range of applications. Rather than relying on the vacuum chamber alone, the Twin Chamber Blow Off Valve harnesses boost pressure in a second chamber to assist in opening the relief valve. This design allows the use of a unique flat-valve design, which provides excellent valve response under both low and high boost conditions without sacrificing flow capacity. Valve reaction is adjusted by tightening or loosening the spring tensioning screw on top of the unit. Blow off sound can be adjusted by turning the red collar at the base of the unit. With its innovative design and adjustment features, the Twin Chamber Blow Off Valve is flexible enough for use on street cars as well as racecars.

BLITZ Dual Drive Blow off valve


The Blow off valve is essential to all turbocharged vehicles. The purpose of the BLITZ® Blowoff Valve DD is to relieve compressor surge without reducing compressor speed. It controls boost pressure that is built up by the turbo and vents it into the atmosphere when the car is not under load (in between shifts). This prevents pressure from backing up into the compressor housing, causing the turbo impeller blade to rapidly stop or even worse, to spin backwards (compressor surge or backspin).

Doing so can be potentially destructive to the turbine wheel and shaft. Repeated stress over time can cause eminent damage to the turbo charger and eventually lead to turbo failure. A blowoff valve is actuated by pressure changes only, ensuring quick valve responses and complete closures at idle. The BLITZ® blowoff valve not only improves performance and response, but also increases the life of the turbocharger.
