HKS Camshafts - 2003-04 Mitsubishi
Lancer EVO VIII

HKS high performance camshafts are CAD computer designed
to optimize torque and horsepower over the widest possible
powerband. Each camshaft application is offered in multiple
profiles, each with their own specific duration and lift characteristics
to suit various levels of tuning. Lower 264 profiles offer
substantial gains in power levels and a broad useable powerband
throughout the RPM range with little compromised in driveability.

Larger 272 profiles offer greater increases in power levels, but
are tailored for higher RPM range use and race oriented driving
characteristics. Increased performance from the HKS camshafts are
achieved by widening the degree of opening of the valve, which increases
power in the higher RPM range, and by increasing lift, which raises
overall torque output.
All HKS camshafts are made from new billets of high nickel content
iron alloy, not reground stock units, therefore equaling or exceeding
the OE units they are designed to replace in terms of quality and
workmanship. The camshafts are direct replacements and are designed
to be compatible with the factory followers and valve springs. HKS
also offers high performance valve spring sets for limited applications
that can benefit from stiffer springs when using “Larger”
profile HKS camshafts.

2003-04 EVO 8 models only
HKS Adjustable Cam Gears allow for fine tune adjustments to
cam timing to maximize engine performance and tailor power
characteristics for various driving conditions. Either with
OEM or HKS Camshafts, adjustments can be made to tune an engine’s
powerband to an optimum RPM range for a particular application.

HKS cam gears are constructed of anodized precision-machined aluminum
plates and incorporate laser-etched indexes in 2° intervals.
The full aluminum versions of the HKS Cam Gears are constructed
completely of aluminum (except for the bolts), thereby reducing
overall weight and resulting in decreased friction loss and greater
precision timing. Precise valve timing can be adjusted and set within
the range of ± 20° in 2° intervals by referring to
the laser-etched degree indexes and the “A” (advance)
and “R” (retard) directional etchings on the cam gear
face.

All HKS Intercoolers improve both the efficiency and power
of any turbocharged application by rapidly reducing inherent
heat levels of the compressed intake air charge before entering
the engine. By utilizing a special tube and fin design, the
intercooler acts as a large heat exchanger that dissipates
the heat generated by the compression of the intake charge
without creating reductions in boost pressure or response. |
As the pressurized air is channeled through the thin tubes of the
intercooler core, that are filled with internal radiating fins,
cool ambient air rushes through the front of the core, where the
external radiating fins of the tubes draw out the heat. This heat
transfer decreases the likelihood of detonation by reducing the
inlet temperatures and maximizes power output by increasing the
density of the air inlet charge, therefore increasing overall horsepower
levels as the intake charge is now cooler and denser. Boost response
and airflow is also often improved from the intercooler upgrades’
larger flow capacity and cooling efficiency.

HIGHLY RECOMENDED! EASY INSTALL!
The Twin Power ignition amplifier incorporates both the CDI
and transistor method ignition to provide optimum spark duration
and maximum voltage output, resulting in crisper throttle
response and a smoother engine powerband. The CDI method,
capacity discharge ignition, provides maximum voltage by transferring
all stored energy in the capacitor to the ignition coil so
that the ignition current can buildup quickly, thus making
the Twin Power very effective in the higher revs where a normal
spark would tend to diminish. |
This strong rapid spark prevents the high rpm ignition miss that
reduces peak power. The transistorized method generates high voltage
by using transistors to cut off current to the coil, thus allowing
for a long energy discharge. This longer spark duration allows the
Twin Power to improve lower RPM throttle response and torque. The
combination of the CDI and the transistor method incorporates two
distinct systems into one high performance unit, hence the designation
of Twin Power. The Twin Power produces a spark output that is typically
1.5-2.5 stronger than of the stock ignition system and consumes
about 35% less power input than other ignition amplifiers. Each
compact and attractive Twin power unit is constructed of durable
anodized aluminum and sealed to prevent corrosion from moisture.

great looking GReddy front lip spoiler is too good looking
to pass up. It is also very high quality and completely made
from flexible urethane so it is not prone to cracking like

Get rid of the ugly/cheap piece of plastic that Mitsubishi
gave you stock and sport a little billet! These are 100% billet
aluminum pieces that look great and fit beautifully. This
unit is billet machined on a CNC machine from solid piece
and is about 200 times stronger and more scratch resistant
than the stock plastic piece. We really like using these because
it nicely hides the stock coil packs which don't always look
so good. |
