How to wire a Q45 throttle body and TPS sensor to 2JZ-GTE

When using installing a larger Q45 throttle body on your 2JZGTE motor, we recommend that you use the GReddy TPS adaptor along with your factory Toyota TRAC throttle position sensor. This makes for a clean install and allows you to retain use of an OEM Toyota TPS sensor.

However, we will outline how get a TPS signal from a Nissan TPS if you decide to go with the cheaper route.

WIRING WITH TOYOTA TPS & GREDDY TPS ADAPTOR:

The GReddy TPS adaptor kit allows you to mount a factory Toyota TPS sensor to the popular 90mm Nissan Q45 throttle body.

You can follow the Greddy instructions that came with your adaptor kit, but in case you lost them here is a quick summary:

- Cut the 4 wires on the original main Toyota TPS harness
- reconnect the wires in reverse order. 1-2-3-4 to 4-3-2-1.
- plug in your TRAC TPS sensor into the main TPS harness.
- You will no longer use your original TPS sensor or your TRAC tps harness.

The Nissan Q45 throttle opens just like the Toyota Supra TRAC throttle plate, so the TRAC TPS must be used since it turns in the correct direction. The main Toyota TPS turns in the opposite direction so it can not be used. This is why you will need to rewire the TRAC TPS sensor into your original TPS wire harness.

This is a simple rewire. The main TPS sensor and TRAC TPS sensor are basically mirror images of each other. So all you have to do is cut the 4 TPS wires on the main TPS harness and reconnect them in reverse. 1-2-3-4 to 4-3-2-1. This will now give your Toyota ECU the proper TPS signal since it is reading from the TRAC TPS sensor in the opposite direction.

The original TPS sensor is no longer used. The TRAC wiring harness will also serve no function so you can cut it off or simply tuck that away.

WIRING WITH NISSAN TPS (when using an aftermarket ECU):

If you decide to reuse the Nissan TPS sensor that came with your used Q45 throttle body here is how to wire it up.

Nissan Q45 TPS sensor wires:
Red - 5 volt input
White - TPS signal
Black - sensor return

Toyota TPS harness wires:
Blue/Red stripe - VC 5 volt supply
Yellow - VTA throttle position signal
Brown/Black stripe - sensor ground

note:
The voltage readings from the Nissan TPS may differ from your original Toyota sensor. Therefore, we only recommend going this route if you have an aftermarket ECU where you can recalibrate your TPS readings. The OEM toyota ECU may not work correctly with the Nissan TPS.

(Also, wire colors may differ depending on the year, but this is what you will normally see)
